ABOUT WVPSG

West Virginia Peer Support Group was envisioned in early 2024 by Chief JB Kimble from Buckhannon Fire Department with support from Battalion 1 Consultants and First Responder Coaching. Chief Kimble collaborated with the chiefs from Weston FD and Elkins FD, envisioning a tri-county approach to maximize participation throughout Upshur, Randolph, and Lewis Counties. This brought in law enforcement, EMS, and dispatchers.

John Maxwell Leadership training is available for all participants. Additionally, First Responder Coaching provides life coach training, coaching support, and CAPS (Coach Approach to Peer Support) courses. WVPSG aims to provide social connection and support, promote ongoing engagement of peers and participants, help individuals and families better cope with traumatic or other life events, and connect people seeking support with a peer supporter with similar experiences.
